Prefold Cloth Diapers

February 16th, 2010 admin No comments

One way that you can save a lot of money when you have a child is to choose prefold cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers. It might be a little bit more work, but using cloth diapers has been shown to save hundreds of dollars over the course of even a few months of diapering your child. Baby diapers are just so outlandish that expensive if you buy the disposables that many people are turning to cloth diapers as an alternative to the very mainstream disposable diaper products.

The problem with disposable diapers, is that you have to keep buying them over and over again. That is why companies like Papers and Huggies and all the rest spend millions of dollars on advertising every single year. They can afford to because they make so much money selling diapers to you over and over again. Of course, disposable diapers seems so incredibly convenient because you can just throw them away and no one likes to deal with the mess, but in the end for many people disposable diapers are much more of a luxury than a necessity.

When we found out that we are pregnant. One of the first things we start thinking about was way that we could save money. It seems like money is always tight, and so every penny that we can pinch can go an awful long way to helping our budget.

So, we decided that we would look at alternative ways to save money yet still raise her child the way that we think he should be. As it turns out, saving money can be a whole lot of fun and is a very interesting learning experience. You have no idea how many different ways we are found to save a buck or two here or find a different item on clearance. That’s just as good if not better than paying extra I think.

We started doing the math to find out how much it would cost to provide diapers for kid, we came to a very horrible realization. It would cost well over a thousand dollars over the course of a year or two just to keep our child and diapers. That seems so outrageous to us, because we just don’t have the money to spend on those kinds of things. Plus, with the uncertainty in the job market. Who’s to say that one of us might be laid off or something. Saving money is a really big deal for us, and it should be for everyone else to.

We started looking into cloth diapers. We came across, all whole lot of information about all the different types and kinds of diapers that we could choose. It seems that cloth diapers have changed quite a bit in the last 50 years or so. Now, a cloth diaper and system can work just as well, if not better than a disposable diaper and is the whole lot more work to keep clean and ready to go.

There are a few main styles to cloth diapers that we came across. There is, what is known as an all-in-one diaper, which is exactly what you think it is. Just like a disposable in that there is no separate parts. Once the baby does its business in the diaper, it must be cleaned. There is also another kind of diaper that is more of a prefold, insert, detachable kind of system. These systems are rare popular because you don’t have to spend quite as much money buying, all whole lot of all-in-one diapers. Instead, you can buy a handful of outer shells, and then swap in and out the prefold diaper inserts.

The name pre-full diapers, comes from the fact that what they really are is just simply pieces of cloth that are pre-folded to the right size to be used as a diaper. There are a few different ways that you can use them, but the most popular way seems to be to have an outer cover. That is waterproof and leakproof, so that you can reuse it over and over again.

Another way that you can use this style of diaper is to use some kind of safety pin or similar device to hold the prefold diaper together around the baby’s waist. That is a more primitive system, but that doesn’t make it any less effective. Many people still use this. Personally, I like the idea of having a waterproof cover around the insert so that it can help prevent leaking.

If you’re interested in prefold diaper systems or inserts, one thing you should know is that there are a whole lot of different choices that you can check out and try. For example, many diaper systems are not designed with their own inserts in mind, yet you can still go ahead and buy your own cotton organic Chinese prefold diaper inserts if you want to. Pre-folded inserts are so cheap that you can actually try a bunch of different times, until you find one that works best for your child.

Prices can vary wildly on inserts, but it seems like you shouldn’t have to spend more than ten dollars per insert. In fact, the going rate on a lot of them seems to be more like $1-$3 per insert. On some of the more namebrand inserts that are designed for a particular system, you might end up spending a little bit more.

One option that a lot of parents seem to be choosing for various reasons, is what is known as the organic cotton prefold inserts. These are often found with diapering systems that use inserts as more of a premium option. These are pretty nice because they are very absorbent, and they’re obviously organic so are probably going to feel nicer on your baby’s skin. A newborn skin is very sensitive. So having annexed or high-quality material might help prevent diaper rash. Also, they just feel nice, even if they are a bit on the pricey side.

We have a lot of information on this site about prefold cloth diapers so feel free to look around and if you have a question just leave it as a comment. Thanks for stopping by!
